Hempnall v Wymondham Town,
Loss, 1 - 4
Hempnall were without Kelly, away on holiday, and a couple of late call-offs through injury, leaving the side stretched, bringing in assistant manager Oli Pointer to show his undoubted skills in defence.
The side were looking to show a recently revitalised Wymondham Town that they too are improving, and for 75 minutes of the game, did just that. Cheered on the the BRF ably abetted by the young female contingent there to support Nobbs in particular, we thought we were in with a shout.
A fairly even first half saw Wymondham create a few more chances, going ahead 1-0, and Hempnall were limited to half chances, though Mulley was looking particularly dangerous, and a foul on Nobbs in the penalty area saw Mulley step up to convert.
All of the Hempnall players were showing great endeavour, with Lambe and Etherington creating from the wings, though none of the moves could be finished off.
Hempnall's Bellingham was driving the midfield and Hempnall were looking good, but then their flow was disrupted by the loss of Mulley to injury, and Wymondham scored three quick goals to seal the three points.
Hempnall again showed they are not far off being a team able to easily compete in this division, and with a bit more luck and availability of players, securing their senior status is perfectly feasible.
