Hempnall F.C. Reserves v Blofield United Res

Report By No specific role (No specific role)

Wednesday, 21st August 2013, 6:30PM, at Old Yarmouth Road #1

Away Match, Anglian Combination Division 3 - 2013 - 2014

Loss, 1 - 7

Our second game was against Blofield Res (plus 3 first teamers who were awesome by the way!). With a solid squad available, our first half performance was good apart from a 15 minute spell where we conceded 3 goals, one OG, one from a corner and one from the edge of the box.

The second half performance however, was the most impressive we have played as a team. It had taken 135 minutes of football to finally reach a level which is required to compete in division 3. I would go as far as to say we we're the better side in the second half, Alex 'no Saturdays' Chapman had 4 chances scoring one smashing the underside of the bar, narrowly missing the far post with another, and the 4 superbly saved by an impressive young Blofield keeper.

On the other flank Andy 'Rambo' Rumbles had 2 good chances saved as we took the Blofield back 4 apart with a show of pace and width.

Sambo Martin will score goals, after just about shrugging off a hamstring pull, he caused problems for the Blofield centre backs in the second 45 and created chances for others around him!

The quality Dale and Mark have brought in through Mikey 'sleepover' Smith, Ian 'turbo' lemon, Sam 'stripper' Martin, Conrad Messi have been hugely impressive.

Although the score doesn't look great, the second half performance was the first time Hempnall Reserves had competed on a level par with a team for 2 seasons...and that's why this season will be the best season the reserves have had in what seems like an eternity!!
