Saturday, 17th August 2013, 2:30PM, at Corton Playing Field Corton Pitch

Away Match, Anglian Combination Division 1 - 2013 - 2014

Win, 3 - 1

It has been a busy time pre-season for the first team trying to get the right players on board for the new season, we have contacted lots of players this year to bring to the club, we have been successful in bringing in Kyle Halsey, Craig Collison, Adam Rope, Rob Kelly, Adam Willis and Tyler Burton so far and we are confident that we will get another 7 or 8 over the next few weeks, this is not discounting some of the quality that is already at the club from last year the likes of Dean Mortimer, Ryan Haynes, Mark Jones and Aaron Haynes, we have a good lot of young lads looking to step up a level and break into the first team the likes of Dan Millican, Ryan Mortimer and Mark Goddard.

Last Saturday the first team started the season away to Corton on a hot day the team started well trying to get the ball down and play, the first 15 minutes was end to end with both sides trying to get on top, the game then started to settle down and Hempnall started to take charge, the scoring started with a good corner from left that was headed home by Goddard, the lead didn’t last long a throw from left was misjudged by Rope and with the defenders left flat footed Corton ran through and slotted home past Kelly, the rest of the half was all Hempnall and another good header by Goddard found the net but was adjudged to have fouled the keeper. The second half again was all Hempnall and with Mortimer getting more ball was pulled down in the box and Ryan Haynes converted from the spot, Hempnall increased the pressure and once again Mortimer was found in space by Willis and with Mortimer rounding the keeper to slot home the game was all over, Mortimer should have had a second penalty as he was hauled to the ground but it wasn’t given and the game fizzled out final score 3-1 to Hempnall.
