Home Match, Fosters Solicitors Anglian Combination Division 3 South - 2025 - 2026

Win, 3 - 0

Hempnall took on 13th placed Bungay Reserves in D3, hoping to get back to winning ways after last game's close defeat at Yarmouth Reserves.

The game started fairly evenly, with Hempnall being unusually imprecise with their passing, and looking below par.

Bungay were generally comfortable though not really threatening.

Hempnall had the lion's share of the possession and attacks, but weren't able to finish anything off.

Things were not quite gelling, and the referee ruled a handball not to be a penalty, but no complaint.

Hempnall were generally comfortable but themselves not really threatening, managing a few easily dealt with shots until Gent showed quality to burst through the defence and bury his shot into the corner of the net for 1-0, the score remaining until half time.

The second half started with Hempnall on top, dominating the play, but unable to convert their chances, until a corner was cleared to the waiting Gent who hammered the ball into the net from 20 yards for 2-0.

A few more half chances came and went, the closest falling to Shingles who shot just past the post.

Jack Herbert made the game totally safe with a finely placed shot from the edge of the box for 3-0.

Overall not Hempnall's best performance but 3-0 is a good result and secures their fourth position.

There were several decent performances, Billy Kelly had his best game for a while, Jamie Bennett also received votes but today's Man of the Match is Jake Gent
