Hempnall FC

Hempnall went to Scole confident after their recent victory at home against the same team and took a full strength squad with them.

They started confidently with Blake unusually up front, and Billy Kelly in a much deeper left back position, the team looked balanced. 

Playing some of their best football this season, the midfield were working really hard, Herbert was popping up everywhere and snuffed out a relatively rare Scole attack.

Hempnall’s first goal came from a great strike from Dale, which gave the keeper no chance.

Hempnall were well on top, some of their midfield play was first class, and their regular forays created corners which increased the pressure. 

The Scole keeper was called into regular action, shots from the number 8 was saved, but no goal. A somewhat controversial decision that the ball hadn’t crossed the line from a good header from Womack kept the score at 0-1.

Hempnall kept playing their football, and a good move saw the ball pulled back and an unfortunate defender deflected the ball into his own net.

Scole started creating some pressure, a decent save from Swatman kept Hempnall ahead, and a couple of corners were dealt with, but overall, Hempnall had control though Scole’s forays were creating some pressure.

Hempnall deserved their half time lead, probably could have had more in fairness.

The game was sealed early in the second half when, after Marjoram couldn’t convert, the ball ended up at the feet of Reece May who crashed the ball into the bottom corner for 0-3. 

Hempnall used the rolling sub allowance wisely, and Hempnall remained comfortable, half chances fell to S Kelly and Marjoram, but not converted, and Hempnall secured a comfortable 0-3 victory.

There were excellent performances throughout the team, I couldn’t pick a MOM, though the manager picked Steven Blake for his excellent overall contribution.
