Hempnall First Team v Gt Yarmouth Town Res

Saturday, 07th October 2023, 2:30PM, at Beaconsfield

Away Match, Fosters Solicitors Anglian Combination Division 3 - 2023 - 2024

Win, 4 - 1

Hempnall travelled to mid table Great Yarmouth Town Reserves, following a victory last week against CEYMS which saw them move above the bottom of the division. The Manager was looking for the improvement to continue and from the off, Hempnall were on the front foot, and with their endeavour, that is how it stayed for most of the match.

Hempnall’s first goal came from an Oscar Millbank header following a cross from Jack Herbert.

Another good move saw Billy Kelly’s pass split the defence for Bradley Cullum to convert for a deserved 2-0 lead.

Hempnall slowed the pace for the first 15 minutes of the second half, and Yarmouth came back into the game, with Hempnall conceding on 55 minutes.

That, though, spurred Hempnall into action, and they started again to get on top, and another move saw Cullum receive the ball wide, drilled a low cross for Millbank to tap in for his second and Hempnall’s third.

Yarmouth were pretty well out of it by then, and Hempnall scored a fourth when Cullum, having his best game this season, crossed another ball to the back post, which was controlled and slotted in by Jack Herbert.

This performance matched that of the excellent cup match a few weeks back, and we can, now the team has gelled, look forward to climbing the table.

MOM went to Matt Jillings, who, according to the Manager ‘won everything! Every header, every tackle, EVERYTHING!’
