Hempnall First Team v Dersingham Rovers

Trevor Shurmer (Club Secretary)
Report By Trevor Shurmer (Club Secretary)

Saturday, 17th September 2022, 2:30PM, at Hempnall #1

Home Match, Fosters Solicitors Anglian Combination Division 3 - 2022 - 2023

Loss, 3 - 6

Hempnall welcomed high flying Dersingham to Bungay Road, knowing this would be a very difficult game.

Hempnall were confident after their previous performance in the Cup, but as has become customary, Hempnall were partly the authors of their own demise, with individual errors allowing Dersingham to take advantage and score both their opening goals. Hempnall were already facing a big struggle against a well drilled side.

Hempnall got back into it and were awarded a penalty, but typical of their day, it was missed.

One of the opposition players took exception to the referee’s decision, and bad language got him sent off, so Hempnall were looking forward to getting back into the match.

Half time 0-2.

Into the second half, Hempnall were improving, and Marjoram scored, but again, Hempnall seemed to take their foot off the gas, and the opposition managed to score two goals for 4-1, again through Hempnall mistakes.

Hempnall decided to show fight though, and Ringer made it 4-2, after good work by Billy Kelly.

However, Dersingham kept up the pressure, and extended their lead to 5-2, before Hempnall secured a third through Ringer.

Hempnall will be disappointed in the way they conceded the goals, but Dersingham are a good team likely to end up towards the top of the table. Even with 10 players, they never looked in any real danger.

There were notable performances today, my two stand out players were Marjoram and Ringer, with Shaun Kelly again there or thereabouts.

For his two goals, Ringer is my MOM.
