Home Match, Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Division 3 - 2019 - 2020
Loss, 0 - 1
Hempnall welcomed AC Mill Lane to Bungay Road, keen not to cement their bottom of the table position further, and hoping for as good a performance as that the previous weeks against Castle Acre.
The pitch was a typical winter pitch, reasonably flat but bobbly, both teams found it quite hard to play controlled football, and Hempnall gifted the opposition a goal in the first few minutes following a defensive lapse. Trying to play football when needing to hoof the ball as far up the pitch as possible has been a trait this season.
Hempnall were therefore playing catch up again, always a tricky issue when decisions go against them, and their reply, a well taken ‘goal’, was adjudged to have been offside, so ruled out – typical of Hempnall’s season to date.
Other than that, the teams were evenly matched, neither team really took control, and with Davis saving Hempnall on a couple of occasions, Hempnall too rued their missed half chances.
Hempnall fought right to the end, the AC Mill Lane defence held out, and the close result showed that Hempnall still have the potential to avoid relegation, but will need a bit more luck than they are currently getting.
Two in the frame for MOM, Taylor Davis and Shaun Kelly – I reckon both deserve it.
