Away Match, Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Division 3 - 2018 - 2019
Draw, 1 - 1
On Saturday, we travelled away to a very windy and cold South Walsham, and as in recent weeks, we had a number of players missing for a variety of reasons.
New signing Ollie West called off with flu in the morning to continue our bad luck with players and to top it all, Harty’s knee wasn't feeling right in the warm up, so he had to pull out too.
Two positives, though, we saw the return of two of our best players, Jamie Etherington and George Watts, back to bolster us. However, the late call offs still meant a start for manager Bunn again in centre midfield.
Hempnall started the game brightly, playing some nice football, and Jay had three decent chances to put us in the lead, but unfortunately, he couldn't find the back of the net.
Defensively we were looking good, with new signing Callum Reynolds at left back having a very tidy game, joining in the attacks when possible.
Taylor in goal was generally a spectator though he did make two good saves.
We finally made the break through when Jake's corner was fizzed in low and missed everyone except Jutty for an easy tap in to give us a well deserved lead after about 30 minutes.
The second half started with Walsham a bit brighter than us, and they had the wind to their advantage.
We still had our own chances though, and could have taken a 2-0 lead, but as the ball was played across to Jutty, he lost his footing and slipped as he shot, to put the ball just wide.
Both teams were creating chances and with 15 minutes to go, Walsham equalized with a header from about 25 yards out, the wind assistance saw the ball loop over Taylor and go in.
We were disappointed to have conceded, but to be honest, a draw was a fair result.
