Saturday, 07th April 2018, 2PM, at Village Hall Bungay Road Hempnall
Home Match, Lowestoft And District Division 3 - 2017 - 2018
Loss, 0 - 3
Hempnall Res welcomed third from bottom placed AFC Oulton to Bungay Road. New Manager Dan Roche is working hard to see this season out after a few traumas, he is doing a great job for the club so far but is seeing the remaining fixtures as preparation for next season, and we are very pleased to say that Dan has agreed to take us forward for the forthcoming season.
He welcomed back Jordie Batterham in his new role wide on the right, and Jamie Bennett adding youth to the left, with Tom Leeder continuing his progression having returned from long term injury, Roche started with a 4-4-2 formation which the players were comfortable with.
Both teams started brightly enough, and the match was even in terms of possession, neither team looked to really threaten the defences, and it was clear that it would be set plays or mistakes that were likely to cause either team to concede, and that was pretty much what happened – AFC Oulton took three chances, Hempnall took none, including a penalty to each team – Hempnall’s hit the post, whereas Oulton’s evaded the aerobatic Hempnall keeper, Bailey.
That just about sums up the game for me., even throughout the game in terms of play, but with Forbes having to sit back, the thrust up front wasn’t there.
Hempnall looked good enough to compete in this league, it is probably the number of changes week to week (several changes again this week due to non-availability and injury) that are causing the team not to quite gel at times
The atmosphere is the team is great, players are working hard for the manager.
MOM and best player on the park by a margin was the experienced but still enthusiastic Brian Forbes.
