Saturday, 03rd November 2012, 2PM, at Hempnall #1
Home Match, Anglian Combination Division 2 - 2012 - 2013
Loss, 1 - 3
Last week's visitors to Bungay Road were last years promoted team, Hemsby.
The squad we had available was a couple lighter than we would've prefered, with 2 or 3 injuries and a couple of players stepping up to play for the 1st team.
We knew this was going to be a tough fixture and hugely important for both teams.
The game kicked off with a flurry of chances in the Hemsby area, but no goals scored. Hempnall edged the first 20 minutes but Hemsby were starting to work their way back into the game, with some good movement from their ex Lowestoft striker.
There were chances for both teams, but the best of which probably fell to the Hempnall side, with Mark Jones hitting he bar from 6 yards out, with a back-180-overhead- flip kick!!
As the half went on neither team were able to take the chances and so the half ended goalless.
Half time score 0-0
We started the second half at a majestic pace, with Hemsby looking more confident, scoring first with a tidy finish past DQ.
Hemsby's second came from a set piece, which was whipped into the Hempnall box and headed in by the Hemsby Centre back from close range.
Now 2-0 down and we started to get back into game with some tidy football, shortly after Hemsby scored from another corner, similar to the first.
With 25 minutes to go we pushed on and started to play the best football we'd played all day. Some determined and direct football created 4-5 good chances but we narrowly missed 2 and hit the bar with another.
With 15 minutes to go Chris Easton, who had worked hard all game, tucked away an opportunity at the back post to make it 3-1.
We pushed hard towards the end of the game but couldn't get the 2 goals needed to share the points. We know that we have to play better than that to compete against any team in the league, whether at the top or the bottom!!
Final score 3-1 to Hemsby
