Home Match, Norwich & District Sunday League - 2017 - 2018
Sunday Junior Cup, {{ report.result.cup_round_name %}
Win, 7 - 1
Hempnall came into this game full of confidence after last weeks win and the previous meetings between the sides.
Manager Kelly had a squad of 14 to choose from and was even able to leave top goal scorer Ellis on the bench against his old side.
What was different from previous weeks was that we started brightly, moving the ball quickly and not giving our opponents a moments rest and this showed as within 5 minutes a 1-2 between Melton and MacRae, found Melton one on one and he calmly slotted into the net for 1-0.
From this moment on it was one way traffic with chance after chance coming Hempnalls way.
The second goal came not long after with a long ball up field from Bailey which the opposition defence didn’t deal with and B.Kelly ran through to dink the keeper - 2-0.
The third goal of the game fell to Hempnall when a free kick fromTaylor found an unmarked MacRae who chested and volleyed into the back of the net - 3-0.
Hempnall were now playing some lovely football and but for a few final balls and poor touches could have been further ahead,
However the fourth goal game from good work by the middle 3 again of Reynolds, Robins and Melton, it was Melton who played B.Kelly in for his second who made no mistake - 4-0
More fluent football from Hempnall resulted in the fifth goal which came courtesy of a cross which the keeper spilled and left Fisher to tap into and empty net - 5-0.
HT 5-0.
The teamtalk was around keeping up the tempo and not letting our opponents settle.
However this had the opposite effect and for the first 10 minutes of the second half Hempnall were second best and Woodton deservedly got one back albeit a very lucky one with the ball looping up off S.Kelly to wrong foot Bailey - 5-1.
This seemed to wake us up again we started playing football again, a couple of nearly moments with cutbacks missed or saved, most notably MaCrae, Ellis and some scorpion kick thing from S.Kelly meant the score stayed at 5-1.
A quick throw found MacRae who controlled the ball and lofted it the back stick for Fisher to volley into the net for his second of the game - 6-1.
Hempnall kept going and created several other chances, MacRae heading wide from 2 yards and Fisher swinging and missing, much the joy of everyone around him
The final goal of the game was created through Fisher who beat his man and fizzed the ball into the box for B.Kelly to head in and complete his hat trick – 7-1.
A much much improved performance from the boys today especially the first half which we controlled with ease showed what we can do when we play quick football and want it.
Man of the match today as voted by the players has gone to Keeley Cleverly who had solid game a LB not letting his man have any space and was a threat going forward as well.
Onto the next round UTH
