Hempnall Sunday v Dynamo FC,

Loss, 1 - 3

Hempnall travelled to Easton College to play Dynamo FC in good spirits after last weeks big cup win against Mulbarton.

The game started slowly with both teams trying to figure each other out, the first chance fell to Craske, when a good Hempnall move found Taylor out wide who crossed for the on running Craske who volleyed straight at the keeper, nothing happened from the resulting corner.

The game then changed when a goal kick met the Dynamo striker who inadvertently flicked the ball through for his partner who finished confidently; 1-0 Dynamo.

Not long after that Dynamo kept pushing forcing the Hempnall defence into a mistake which was punished - 2-0.

Hempnall, not having woken up were again being punished for their slack play, finally they started playing the ball around and finding pockets of space to exploit and up stepped Ellis who received the ball just inside the box, took a shot which took a deflection and wrong footed the keeper. 2-1 game on.

No sooner had we got back into the game, Dynamo had extended their lead to two goals again, a poor clearance was headed back and the striker spun a volley over the despairing Bailey in net, 3-1 and that’s how it stayed until halftime.

The second half was a one sided affair if I’ve ever seen one, with Hempnall having 70-80% of the ball and camped inside the Dynamo half without really creating much.

The best chance of the half came through Fisher who again beat his fullback and put the ball in the box, for Ellis to head at goal only for the keeper to save it. Ellis fired the rebound over the bar, it was one of those days.

Other than a few long range efforts and corners, Hempnall never really tested the keeper enough.

Dynamo defended well and cleared their lines to see out the game.

FT 3-1

No excuses for this one as collectively we weren’t good enough, we pick up ourselves and go again, on to next week!

Man of the match today goes to Alex Robins for breaking up the play and doing exactly what was asked of him.
