Trevor Shurmer (Club Secretary)
Report By Trevor Shurmer (Club Secretary)

Saturday, 24th September 2016, 2:30PM, at Hempnall #1

Home Match, Almary Green Anglian Combination Division 5 South - 2016 - 2017

Loss, 0 - 15

A nightmare for Manager Matt Oakley saw him struggling on more than one front on Saturday, and without complaining too heavily, late player call-offs and non-attendances caused havoc for our hardworking manager.

We have to wonder what on earth is going on at local football level. Work commitments and genuine reasons for not turning up aside, what is unacceptable to me as Secretary is players just not bothering to tell the manager they have something else to do rather than play football. What do we do about it? Answers on a post-card, please, to County FA who themselves undertook a survey and came up with no answers to the problem.

So, after having, he thought, 13, possibly 14 players at 11am, Matt started the match against a strong Harleston side, including former Hempnall favourites, Pretty and Bliss, with 10, which included himself in goal.

A match report as such is not required, other than to say Harleston had a fairly comfortable afternoon, and tested Oakley and his defence quite regularly.

Well done to all the lads that did decide to play.
