Hempnall F.C. Reserves v Bar 33 Res

Jamie Bennett (Joint Sunday team manager)
Report By Jamie Bennett (Joint Sunday team manager)

Saturday, 03rd November 2018, 2PM, at Gaymers Meadow, Attleborough

Away Match, Central & South Norfolk League Division 4 - 2018 - 2019

Win, 2 - 1

Today we travelled away to play Bar 33 Reserves. After turning up and seeing the pitch and a few new faces for them, we knew it wasn't going to be an easy game.

After having a long hard chat with the squad about keeping our discipline, the players all seemed passionate to keep Hempnall proud of us.

Welcoming Taylor Davies from the first team in goal and changing the line up around due to missing players and injuries, we started the game playing some lovely football all across the pitch.

The pitch was tricky, the ball bobbling around due to the condition of the pitch, but we weren't letting that stop our unbeaten run.

The back four were solid today, especially Russ Tupper and Chris Parnell, winning every ball at the back. Despite this, we conceded early in the game and whilst1-0 down, everyone battling hard to get back into the game, with Forbo in the middle doing a great job as usual, winning near enough every ball in the air, then playing some great balls to Daniel Mann and Alex Chapman on the wings.

They kept putting some great balls into the opposition box but chance after chance, we just couldn't finish.

Half time came.

After a strong chat with the side they were determined to get back in it for the 3 points.

We went out second half playing some great football, putting Forbo up top, he was the one to scpre to make us level with a great goal.

1-1, game on.

I then made the sub and brought Jordan Batterham on, and with his fresh legs up and down the wing, we then stepped up the game, battling for the 3 points with some lovely football.

From midfield, the ball went out to Alex Chapman who then went through to score the winning goal, great finish as always by a class player to make it 2-1.

During the last 15 minutes, it was all about defending the lead but we still had plenty of chances, we just couldn't put it into the back of the net.

The final whistle went with it finishing 2-1. A big well done too all the lads for battling hard throughout the whole game.

There were a few contenders for m.o.m., but my m.o.m. goes to Chris Parnell, he had a great game with great chat, winning every ball at the back and being solid as always.

I would today also praise the ref – having a good ref who lets the game play on and talking to the players with plenty of respect makes it all enjoyable.
