Hempnall First Team v Hingham Athletic

Jason Trett (Chairman)
Report By Jason Trett (Chairman)

Saturday, 16th September 2017, 2:30PM, at Hingham

Away Match, Anglian Combination Division 3 - 2017 - 2018

Loss, 0 - 1

Today we travelled to Hingham knowing we were in for another tough game.

Again, we went with the same formation, Hingham started the game far brighter than Hempnall and deservedly took the lead after 10 minutes, but from that point onwards, Hempnall matched Hingham in every department and created good chances.

The first fell from a Bunno kick which saw Forbo hit the post, then Billy Kelly whipped in a good corner which looked close to being over the line but the defender managed to clear the ball but with his arm. If the luck’s against you, you can bet the ref wouldn’t see the infringement, and so it proved.

Then after a good old goal mouth scramble, Hingham eventually cleared the ball.

Ben Lewis then had a good chance with a clear header from a Billy Kelly corner.

Half time 1-0.

The second half started with both teams finding it hard to play football as the pitch took a battering from the weather. Hingham had a couple of chances but Bunno made some good saves from point blank.

Three changes were made with 25 minutes left with young Jamie Bennett, Tom Griffiths and James Edwards coming on, and it was Tom Griffiths who rattled the bar with 10 minutes left.

Then in the last seconds of the game, George Watts was through 1 on 1 with keeper but his shot was saved.

Final score 1-0.

All 14 today were superb, great effort and commitment, and trust me boys, results will soon be coming.

Back four outstanding, midfield boys worked incredibly hard and the front two held the ball well. Bunno class again, bud.

M.O.M George Watts.

Don't forget to start ordering tickets for the race night lads 25th November.
