Hempnall First Team v Bradenham Wanderers

Report By No specific role (No role)

Saturday, 11th January 2014, 2PM, at Hempnall #1

Home Match, Anglian Combination Division 1 - 2013 - 2014

Loss, 1 - 4

The game against Bradenham was our first after a 4 week layoff and it showed. Hempnall were slow from the off in a game of misplaced passes and a lack of urgency

Within the first 10 minutes we found ourselves behind from a corner, a

half clearance from Thomas deflected back into the net off the back of Mortimer who couldn’t get out of the way.

The sloppy play continued through the first half and just before the break Hempnall conceded a second when a cross shot from the right was fumbled by Thomas and a simple tap in from 2 yards saw us 2 down.

The second half started better with Hempnall closing down quicker and taking the game to Bradenham, Brooks was playing well in his first game and pushing the team forward, Baker was a problem to pick up as he worked hard across the park, Bevis and Knight up top started to get more of the ball and pushed the defence of Bradenham back deep. The pressure finally told, a good corner was headed home by debutant Short. That gave the lift to Hempnall and could have pulled it level when a shot from Knight was turned round the post. Hempnall started to push hard for the equaliser and from another Hempnall corner Bradenham managed a quick break down the right a slip from Gauntlett as he was going for the tackle saw Bradenham slide the ball under Thomas to make it 3-1 with only 5 minutes left the Hempnall heads went down and another goal from Bradenham in the 88th minute saw them come away 4-1 winners.
